The rebirth of Berlin
A dominant theme of the narrative of Germany, recently translated in Italian, is the fall of the Berlin Wall. The event represents a real break literary history not only in Germany. The novel in the German language has played a decisive role in the interpretation of a rapidly changing world.
Before the fall of the Berlin Wall, in the imagination of young people from 80, Berlin was represented in the book-especially the truth " Christiane F. We the children of the Berlin Zoo " (1979) which became a movie in 1981.
Just a few years later, in 1984, the singer Nena speaks of the Cold War to the beat of pop launching its "99 Luftballons", which are traded in the sky for objects that are not identified and perhaps dangerous, and so are attacked by flak from the two blocks and leading to the outbreak of war! Had not yet happened that a German song became an international hit. The German writer best known and most representative of the DDR in those years was
Christa Wolf. His novel "Divided Heaven" a love story at the time of the Wall has become a minor classic. Projects of Rita and Manfred crashing against the wall (erected in 1961) which places them in front of their differences in ideals and character: Manfred decides to escape to the West and Rita to stay and continue to resist its action. The reflection and intimate personal history interwoven with great stories and feature of the entire production of the Wolf.
Berlin is also the star of the "scientific revolution" of 900 (
Heisenberg, Bohr, Planch, Einstein )
